EMTensor GmbH (www.emtensor.com) is a MedTech start-up developing a novel brain imaging modality utilizing electromagnetic waves in the low microwave spectrum. We believe this technology has the potential to revolutionize stroke assessment as well as monitoring of brain disorders.
We have an immediate opening for an experienced Senior Scientist. In this position, you will develop algorithms and apply numerical methods to solve 3D vector and scalar electromagnetic wave inverse scattering problems in homogeneous media (Maxwell’s equations and Helmholtz equation). The successful candidate will have at least a Master or ideally a PhD in a relevant field with a track record of developing and implementing Finite Element Method and/or iterative solvers for the inverse scattering problem. A strong mathematical background with numerical methods is a must.
This position is a full-time, in-person position at our Vienna, Austria, office, located in the eastern part of Vienna in the Donaustatd area.
Role and responsibilities
· Architect novel numerical solvers for 3D electromagnetic wave problems in application to tomographic imaging of the human brain.
· Implement and optimize algorithms in the programming languages Python and C++, ensuring scalability, robustness, efficiency, and maintainability.
· Conduct comprehensive testing and validation of algorithms using real-world data, iterating as needed to improve accuracy and performance.
· Collaborate with the engineering team to integrate developed algorithms into system architecture.
· Participate in code reviews and provide constructive feedback to team members to maintain code quality and consistency.
· Proactively troubleshoot and address issues related to algorithm performance and integration.
· Support the experimental and test activities in the lab and at clinical sites.
· Take part in data collection and documentation for regulatory submissions of imaging products.
· Follow the requirements of EMTensor’s Quality Management System.
Essential Qualifications and Experience
· PhD and 5 years of experience in numerical methods, particularly with experience in the development and implementation of the Finite Element Method and/or iterative inverse scattering solvers for 3D electromagnetics problems. Candidates with an MS and 8 years of experience possessing an exceptional track record will also be considered.
· Experience in algorithm optimization
· Hands-on experience and strong practical skills in coding, debugging and documentation of software products related to numerical methods, especially using languages such as C++ and Python.
· Ability to lead a team of math physicists
· Interpersonal skills and abilities to communicate and work in a team environment across all levels of the organization.
Desired qualifications and experiences:
· Experience in inverse problem of diffraction tomography.
· Knowledge of code parallelization (MPI, MP and CUDA) and the use of in-cloud computing.
· Experience in commercial electromagnetic simulation tools such as HFSS, CST.
· Experience in AI for imaging processing.
· Experience using commercial electromagnetic simulation tools such as HFSS, CST.
· An understanding FDA and EU MDR quality and regulatory standards.
Compensation is commensurate with the experience.
